Willian confronted Ross Barkley over taking a penalty kick against Valencia in the Champions League match before the latter blazed it over.

Chelsea played against Valencia in the first round of the Champions League group stages. Even though the match was at the Stamford Bridge, the Blues lost the match by 1-0 against the Spanish club.

Although, Chelsea had the chance to level the score by drawing the game against Valencia, as they were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes of the game after Daniel Wass’ handball.

Thus, Ross Barkley emerged ahead to take the penalty in the final minutes of the game, to make himself the hero of the game by grabbing an equalizer.

Barkley is nowhere near Willian and Jorginho in the ladder to take the penalties, yet the English International showed enough confidence and opted to take the penalty himself.

Before going to the spot, Barkley was confronted by Willian, and it was clear that the Brazilian did not want Barkley to take the penalty ahead of him and Jorginho.

However, Barkley insisted and in the end, and The former Everton midfielder even gave Willian some hand gestures to tell him to relax and he’s got this. Willian could not stand up to the stubbornness of Barkley and took a step back.

On the other hand, even Jorginho and Tammy Abraham tried to talk to Barkley but he was adamant, in the end Jorginho was seen wishing luck and even Abraham stepped away.

Despite much confidence, Barkley made himself embarrassed after he missed the penalty by kicking it over the bar, and Frank Lampard’s men were beaten 1-0 by the Spanish side.

This led to the victory of Valencia by 1-0 in the first match of this Champions League season. Rodrigo scored the winner for Los Ches in the 74th minute.
