WWE AEW contract

Wrestling pundits are pretty certain that 2024 will see a big bidding war between WWE and AEW. Several big names from both promotions are rumored to be free agents by the end of this year. And when it comes to hiring talent from its rival, neither WWE nor AEW is going to back down. Last year, WWE even approached a few AEW stars to get out of their current contract. And as per a recent report, the company is looking to hire as many talents from Tony Khan’s promotion as they possibly can.

Every fan, who follows both WWE and AEW, knows MJF will be free from his current contract from January 2024. “The Generational Talent” even wishes to use his AEW title as a bargaining chip next year. Names like The Elite, Edge, Rey Mysterio, Alexa Bliss, Matt Riddle, and more are also on the same list.

WWE hunting for new faces to fill in for Randy Orton, John Cena, AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns

In his report, BoozerRasslin noted that WWE is looking for new faces to fill in the top level. According to him, the Board wants names that can be the next AJ Styles, Randy Orton, John Cena, and Roman Reigns.

The report further stated that superstars like Seth Rollins and Drew McIntyre are already being considered. And few new talents might also be included in WWE plans.

He stated that the promotion is in the hunt for a few big names in AEW specifically for that purpose.

Just like Cody Rhodes in 2022, if Triple H manages to hire AEW talents with a promising future, the above goal can easily be achieved.

WWE will be pursuing every AEW contract to hire as many names as possible

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter‘s Dave Meltzer, the current contract of several AEW superstars will end in 2023. And as far as Triple H is concerned, he is interested in many of them. In fact, WWE management might try to hire as many names as possible.

Meltzer noted that the moment stars are free from AEW, they will be pursued. According to him, the company, at least, is going to follow the key ones they can hire. Though he didn’t mention any names that WWE might go after once their AEW contract end.

“There are AEW contracts that are coming due at the end of the year. Several of them. Many of them, and WWE obviously will be pursuing all of them. Or all the ones that are key ones that they could get.” Metzer stated.

In the past, there was a trend that WWE stars joined AEW once their contract expired, but that’s not the case anymore.

Now that The Game oversees WWE’s creative department, the tide has started to flow in the opposite direction. Though it will be interesting to see how many names he will end up hiring from AEW eventually.
