Nia Jax Roman Reigns

The Samoan community’s Anoa’i family has its roots deep-seated in wrestling. The Anoa’i tribe has produced notable stars such as Roman Reigns, Umaga, Rosey, Rikishi, The Usos, and many others. But The Rock does not directly belong to the Anoa’i clan. This means Dwayne Johnson is not biologically related to Roman Reigns, rather they are blood brothers. But what about The Rock’s second cousin, Nia Jax?

Dwayne Johnson and Nia Jax are descendants of the Maivia family. However, they still fall under the umbrella of the Anoa’i tribe. Back in the day, Amituanai Anoa’i extended his dynasty after declaring The Rock’s grandfather, Peter Maivia, as his blood brother after a ceremonial mixing of the blood.

Since Nia Jax falls under the Maivia family tree, she is the second cousin to The Rock.

Are Nia Jax and Roman Reigns related?

Much like The Rock, Nia Jax, and Roman Reigns are not genetically related. Although Nia Jax is Roman Reigns’ blood sister, they come from separate Samoan lineages. Wrestling’s Anoa’i clan started with Amituanai Anoa’i. Afa and Sika, collectively known as the Wild Samoan, are the sons of the chief.

Sika is the father of Roman Reigns and the late great Rosey. Other wrestling legends such as Rikishi, Yokozuna, Umaga, and many more also belong to the Anoa’i clan.

As for Nia Jax, the Australian-born wrestler is the daughter of the Maivia family’s Joseph Fanene. Fanene is the first cousin of Peter Maivia, making The Rock and Nia Jax cousins.

This means Nia Jax is the extended family member of Roman Reigns’ legendary family tree. Although Nia Jax is not technically the cousin of Roman Reigns, she is commonly known for her relationship with the Anoa’i family.

Nia Jacks hints at a potential return to WWE

Nia Jax made her surprise entrance in the Royal Rumble match earlier this year. However, she hasn’t been actively wrestling since November 2021.

While speaking on The Busted Open Radio, the former Raw Women’s Champion hinted at a possible WWE return.

According to her, she got the “wrestling bug” when she made her in-ring return in the Royal Rumble match. Jax also added that she would love to contribute to the roster and help put over younger female talents.

“I did catch the bug after being in the Rumble where I was like, ‘Oh, maybe coming back would be a cool thing if the people do remember me.’ The only thing I’d want to do is come back and help anybody out I could. I’d love to add to the division. It would be something that I’d love to do.”
