Braun Strowman challenges the Fiend at SummerSlam

WWE Universal Champion Braun Strowman makes a return on WWE SmackDown and challenges the Fiend to a match at SummerSlam.

The WWE had finally built intrigue to their show when SmackDown ended last week with Bray Wyatt attacking Alexa Bliss as the Fiend. This was seen as a way to get under Braun Strowman’s skin and give him a reason to pursue his nemesis.

As expected, the Monster among men made his return to WWE TV for the first time since the Wyatt Swamp match at the Horror Show at Extreme Rules. However, the poor execution has probably affected what was the hottest angle the WWE had last week.

The Fiend entered the ring with red lights and Alexa Bliss already on the mat. He looked to attempt another mandible claw on her but she grabbed his arm and stopped him before gently caressing his face. The Fiend, stopped her and backed off before Strowman appeared on the titantron.

The Universal Champion declared himself the evillest man in the world and called himself ‘The Monster’. He told Wyatt that he didn’t care about Bliss and only wants to fight the Fiend saying that Wyatt would have to face his fears at SummerSlam.

Wyatt and Strowman have been feuding since the latter won the Universal Championship at Wrestlemania. The introduction of Alexa Bliss in the storyline added another dimension to their storyline. It would have been interesting to see how the Fiend would bend her to his will to get to Strowman.

Instead, the WWE threw all that development away by having Strowman declare that he didn’t care about her. This is all the more bizarre when you take into consideration that Strowman is supposed to be the face champion in this feud.

Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
