Brock Lesnar told Matt Riddle they would never work together

Brock Lesnar told Matt Riddle they would never work together. The beast incarnate told Riddle to stop taking his name on social media.

To many fans, it seems that Brock Lesnar does not have the passion for Wrestling anymore and only does it for the money. To be fair, he has put in a lot of questionable matches in the last decade or so. However, when he wants to, the person facing him has almost always come out a bigger star regardless of the outcome of the match.

CM Punk, AJ Styles and even Finn Balor put in a great show against the beast during their singles match. Even an ageing Goldberg was made to look like a prime UFC Heavyweight champion. It should come as no surprise that people want to go up against him. However, SmackDown star Matt Riddle has been told specifically by the beast that they will never share the same ring.

In an interview with Ariel Helwani on ESPN MMA, Riddle recalled his conversation with Lesnar before the Royal Rumble.

“Let’s just say he came up to me with a security guard, not that he needed the security guard,” Riddle said. “He came up to me, put his arm around me and told me we were never going to work. So, I shouldn’t mention his name or talk about him or anything like that. And I should not call him out on social media. And I said, ‘Whatever you want, Bro.’

Riddle feels like his comments on wanting to retire Lesnar may have offended the star. However, he insists that it was a compliment.

“Bro, you’re like so good at wrestling and mixed martial arts and everything,” he said. “You are the mecca. You are the icon of sports entertainment and MMA, in some people’s eyes. If I were to beat you, let alone retire you, that would make my life. That would make my career. I’d be the dude to dethrone Brock Lesnar.”

Archie is a WWE and UFC Editor/Author at the SportsRush. Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
