John Cena Jackie Chan movie

After ruling the squared circle for over a decade, John Cena shifted his focus to Hollywood in the mid-2010s. The 16-time WWE champion became a part-time wrestler to pursue a full-time acting career. And in his brief time in Hollywood, he has shared the screen with prominent names like Mark Wahlberg, Idris Elba, and Vin Diesel. However, fans wonder whether he has ever worked with a specific superstar. They want to know if John Cena has done a movie with Jackie Chan.

The Cenation Leader possesses excellent acting skills, something that is evident in the kind of projects he has done. In fact, he has played key roles in big-budget movies like Fast and Furious 9 and DC’s The Suicide Squad. Not to forget, last year, his work in the Peacemaker series received praise from all corners.

However, the question in focus here is, have John Cena and Jackie Chan ever worked in a movie together? Well, let’s put it this way, the answer is YES and NO!

John Cena has indeed worked with Jackie Chan, but unfortunately, the movie was never released

In 2018, John Cena and Jacie Chan joined hands to do an action movie together. Initially, the film was called Project X, then Project X-Traction, and eventually, Snafu. As per IMDb, it was a story of two ex-special forces soldiers trying to escort a group of civilians in Baghdad.

As a matter of fact, John Cena and Jackie Chan even finished shooting for the movie, which mostly happened in China. Sadly, the project never made it to theaters because of a few reasons. The movie got shelved primarily due to the dying political and economic ties between the US and China.

And then came COVID-19, which led to the Asian nation’s silver screens preferring domestic movies over the US ones. Reportedly, that was also a reason why fans could never see the movie featuring John Cena and Jackie Chan.

The Cenation Leader is set to make his second appearance in the Fast and Furious franchise

In 2021, fans got to see the villainous side of Mr. Hustle Loyalty Respect on the big screen. John Cena played the main antagonist in F9, the ninth installment of The Fast Saga. He portrayed Jacob, the brother of the main lead Vin Diesel, Dominic Toretto.

In fact, the WWE Icon will also be appearing in the upcoming film of the Fast and Furious franchise, Fast X. The movie is scheduled to hit the theatres later this month on May 19. Though this time, he is going to be on the good side.

Nevertheless, the chances are very strong that the movie featuring John Cena and Jackie Chan might never get released. However, in no way does that imply they will never work together again. Both men are capable actors, which means, there will always be a possibility.
