In his eight years as a full-time actor so far, John Cena has been a part of many box office hits. In fact, with his work in The Suicide Squad (2021) and Peacemaker (2022), he has gained a lot of praise from fans and critics. Despite having a short Hollywood resume, the WWE icon is on the wanted list of many big producers. According to a recent report, fans might see John Cena becoming the next “RoboCop” in an upcoming Amazon series.

RoboCop focuses on a futuristic crime-ridden Detroit, where police officer Alex Murphy is killed by a criminal gang. Revived as a cyborg and unaware of his past, Murphy begins his vicious crusade against crime. So far, fans have seen four movies and one TV series under the hit Hollywood franchise.

John Cena reported to reprise the role of RoboCop in the upcoming Amazon series

Last month, GiantFreakinRobot claimed John Cena could end up being the new RoboCop. In an exclusive report, it was stated that a sequel series to the 1987 film is in the works.

As per the report, the upcoming series will be produced by none other than Amazon. GiantFreakinRobot further noted that the producers want to sign the WWE Icon in the lead role. They want John Cena to reprise the iconic role of RoboCop.

Not just that, but the original 1897 Alex Murphy will also be making his return in the upcoming series. Apparently, he is going to mentor the new RoboCop, which is John Cena.

“A new RoboCop series is in development at Amazon that will act as a sequel to at least the first film. Producers want John Cena to lead the series as a new RoboCop who will be mentored by the original — Alex Murphy — who will once again be played by Peter Weller…”

However, unlike the 1987 movie, the upcoming show won’t focus on Alex Murphy. Instead, the series will introduce a new cybernetic lawman named Marc Kyle. The report noted that John Cena will play Narc, a soldier who dies in war and then becomes RoboCop.

Is the WWE-icon-turned-Hollywood Star really going to reprise the iconic role?

Well, other than the above source, no one has reported that John Cena is the next RoboCop. It’s also worth noticing that the article was published on an untrustworthy date, which is April 1. Besides, neither Amazon nor the WWE Icon has confirmed the news.

So, considering all of that, it’s tough to say that the GiantFreakinRobot’s claim is 100% true. However, the way Cena has acted so far, even if he gets the role, nobody should be surprised. Just like WWE, he is all set to have a legendary career in Hollywood.
