Former WWE Star believes CM Punk’s return could be underwhelming

Former WWE Star believes CM Punk’s return could be underwhelming. The former WWE Champion is reportedly headed towards AEW.

CM Punk walked out of the WWE back in 2014. He was suspended and eventually fired by the promotion and Punk vowed to never return to wrestling. It seems however, that the Voice of the Voiceless may walk back on his word and join AEW soon.

“What got me is that I don’t understand why he would even come back to do the broadcasting. No one wanted to see that. They wanted to see the music hit, him come out, and whoop some a**.

“I just feel like to me, now that he came back that way, if he does come back to wrestle, it’ll be like [underwhelming shrug]. I would’ve waited, I would’ve waited. But then again, if he wanted to do the whole interview thing with FOX, more power to him.”

Punk was employed as an analyst on FS1 show WWE Backstage in 2019 and 2020. He was under contract with FOX and not WWE. Punk hoped it would help him find his way back into the wrestling business. Although, he was still not interested but also not opposed to the idea of an in-ring return.

The production of WWE Backstage was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequently suspended by Fox in June 2020.

Punk is now reportedly on his way to AEW and it will be interesting to see the recpetion he gets if he does jon Tony Khan’s promotion.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
