Io Shirai beats Sasha Banks at the Great American Bash. Shirai and Banks main evented the first week of the WWE Special.

Asuka appeared from under the ring to spray the Green mist onto an unsuspecting Banks’ face. Shirai took advantage of the situation to land a Moonsault and seal the victory.

Sasha Banks vs Asuka Storyline furthered

A very clever piece of booking to bring a brilliant show to an end.

Sasha is booked to face Asuka for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules. Io Shirai on the other hand, recently won the NXT Women Championship. Neither could afford to lose clean without it affecting their momentum.

Asuka’s interference allows Shirai to maintain her momentum while furthering her own storyline with Banks. Banks does not lose any credibility as a challenger and has more reasons to antagonize Asuka heading into Extreme Rules.

Shirai will now defend her title against Tegan Nox who won a fatal four way elimination match to become the number 1 contender.

Earlier in the match, Sasha made a grand entrance in a fancy white car alongside Bayley and her dog Ryu.

The Great American Bash will continue next week as well. It will feature the winner take all clash between NXT Champion Adam Cole and NXT North American Champion Keith Lee among other exciting matches.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
