Paul Heyman says Kevin Owens buried Sami Zayn backstage

Paul Heyman says Kevin Owens buried Sami Zayn backstage. The two have had a long wrestling journey together from the indies to WWE.

Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have been lifelong friends. The two worked together in the independent scene before heading to WWE NXT at around the same time. They feuded with each other on the Gold and Black brand before continuing their rivalry on the main roster.

They would go on to bury the hatchet and paired with each other before parting their ways again. While Owens became a face, Zayn became part of a group of people that Paul Heyman wanted to push. Unfortunately, that group, called ‘the SmackDown catering crew’ got buried after Heyman was relieved from the position of Executive Director of RAW.

On Talking Smack, Paul Heyman told Sami Zayn that his removal was not the reason for his burial. In fact, it was his friend Kevin Owens, who called him a prick during a meeting that eventually led to everyone joining in on the burial.

“Listen, we were in meetings and It wasn’t even my idea to bury him. It was Kevin Owens’ idea to bury him.”

“We were running hot on Raw and the Street Profits were the Tag Team Champions. And I needed a tag team to go against the Street Profits. I went to Kevin Owens and I said, ‘why don’t you team with Sami Zayn again and we’ll put you up against the Street Profits.’ [He said] ‘Are you kidding me, I’ve known that guy since we were kids together, he’s a prick, I don’t like him, bury him in meetings.’”

“I said ‘no no KO, I don’t wanna bury Sami in meetings.’ He said, ‘no no no, everyone else buries him, you might as well just bury him’ so I did. It was part of a conspiracy because Kevin Owens didn’t like him, he told me that that’s the way he was since he was a kid.”

This is likely leading to a storyline between Owens and Zayn. The two have already feuded twice with each other in the WWE. This time however, the roles have been reversed. Owens is the honorable face while Zayn is the slimy heel.

This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all.
