John Cena’s entanglement with Nikki Bella is probably one of the hottest stories in WWE. After a 6-year-long relationship, the power couple called off their marriage publicly. Naturally, the media had a field day, as John and Nikki went their separate ways. Although John Cena never commented on his breakup with Nikki Bella, the latter was pretty vocal about her relationship with her ex-fiancé. Nikki once also stated that she couldn’t legally say John Cena’s name.
There’s no denying that John Cena is one of the most revered WWE superstars. It’s also known that WWE owns the rights to his name. This means, the name “John Cena” is WWE’s intellectual property.
John Cena owes a certain percentage of his earnings to WWE whenever he uses his real name to make money. But Nikki Bella once refrained from the name of her ex-fiancé during an interview.

During an interview with Cosmopolitan in 2018, Nikki Bella recounted her relationship with John Cena. It’s no secret that the split left Nikki Bella devastated. Nikki stated that the couple had reached a point where they did not want to be associated with each other. Nikki admitted that the breakup affected their wrestling careers.
“We’re both at the point that we just don’t want to be talked about at all together anymore. We don’t want our breakup to define us or interfere with our work. And that was happening for a while.”
“I can’t say his name, legally, anymore.”
At one point during the interview, Nikki referred to John Cena as her “ex” citing that she could not say his name “legally” while sharing a knowing smile with her sister, Brie Bella. This had the interviewer confused about whether it was an inside joke or it was for real.
Let’s point out that John and Nikki decided to call it quits due to the difference in their mindset on marriage and having kids. Nevertheless, time has healed all wounds, as both have moved on with their lives.
John Cena met the love of his life, Shay Shariatzadeh, during the filming of “Playing With Fire”.
The couple tied the knot in 2020. On the other hand, Nikki Bella fell in love with her Dancing With The Stars partner, Artem Chigvinstev. The couple got married in 2022 and welcomed a baby boy into their family.

Earlier in March, Nikki and Brie announced that they have cut ties with WWE and stepped foot into a new chapter in their lives. The duo even rechristened their twin magic from The Bellas to the Garcias. The Garcia Twins hinted at their move away from WWE on their Twitter.
