Sasha Banks beats Asuka to officially become WWE RAW Women’s Champion

Sasha Banks beats Asuka to officially become WWE RAW Women’s Champion. The Golden Role Models now have all the Gold.

Sasha Banks took on Asuka at Extreme Rules for the RAW Women’s title and took off with the title. However, the lack of an official during the three count, which was done by Bayley, meant that confusion ensued over who the actual champion was.

As is done in the WWE, a match was booked between the pair to determine which of the two could claim the title for themselves. The match just like their clash at Extreme Rules, sent the ball out of the park once again. There was no clean finish this time as well. However, the shenanigans at the finish actually made sense this time round.

For some reason, the WWE seems hesitant to have one of their wrestlers on the ground, staring at the lights, while the other gets their hands raised. This has resulted in a lot of questionable finishes such as the Shayna Baszler vs Nia Jax earlier in the night. However, the screwy finish, while expected, actually lends to the story rather than feel like a cop out.

Asuka and Sasha went all out once again and at one point it seemed that the Empress of tomorrow would get her title back. Until she saw Bayley destroying Kairi Sane on the titantron. With Sane screaming for Asuka, the title was not important anymore.

She abandoned the match to go rescue her friend. This however, resulted in her being counted out. Due to the stipulation of the match that allowed for the title to change hands via count out or disqualification, the RAW Women’s championship was awarded to Sasha Banks.

With Kairi Sane’s contract up with the WWE, this was the promotion’s way of writing her out of future storylines while giving Asuka an incentive to chase after Sasha Banks. The two will most likely face off against each other once again at SummerSlam with the Empress of Tomorrow fighting for more than just the belt.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
