Seth Rollins says the WWE Women have lagged behind Becky and Charlotte

Seth Rollins says the WWE Women have lagged behind Becky and Charlotte for some time and need to step up and do their thing now.

Women wrestlers have thrived in the WWE for the last few years. They have been given their own marquee matches such as the Hell in a cell, Elimination chamber and Royal Rumble. They have even been handed a pay per view of their own while 3 of them went on to main event Wrestlemania.

All 3 of those women from that historic match however, are absent from the WWE now. Rousey has taken a sabbatical since the main event. Charlotte on the other hand has taken time off to tend to her injuries while Becky Lynch is on a maternity leave after she revealed that she and her fiancé Seth Rollins were expecting a child together.

While it is unlikely that Rousey will ever step inside a WWE ring again, both Flair and Lynch should return to the promotion eventually and Rollins believes that the WWE women wrestlers need to take this time to step up and catch up to the pair.

“I think it’s no secret that Bayley and Sasha [Banks] have done their god damndest to fill in with Becky being out and the women’s division just being wide open,” Rollins told  talkSPORT. “Charlotte Flair being out now too. The women have been lagging behind Becky and Charlotte for some time and now it’s time for them to step up and do their thing.

“Asuka has stepped up too, as well, but I do think Bayley and Sasha have been great. They’ve filled that void as best as they possibly can and have been working like crazy as Tag Team champs and now RAW and SmackDown champs.”

While Rollins makes an interesting observation, it is important to point that the rest of the women division suffer from stop and start pushes. In fact, Lynch herself was a victim of it until she had the fans on her corner after her heel turn at SummerSlam two years back.

Like most combat sports enthusiasts, his passion for watching people fight began with WWE when he witnessed a young Brock Lesnar massacre Hulk Hogan back in 2002. This very passion soon branched out to boxing and mixed martial arts. Over the years he fell in love with the theatrics that preceded the bell and the poetic carnage that followed after. Each bruise a story to tell, each wound a song of struggle, his greatest desire is to be there to witness it all. His favorite wrestler is Shawn Michaels and he believes that GSP is the greatest to ever step foot inside the octagon. Apart from wrestling, he is also fond of poetry and music.
