Millions of fans around the world have watched John Cena wrestle for over two decades now, but not his mother. While Cena’s father, John Cena Sr. often watches his son wrestle live, Carol Cena, usually does not frequent the shows. But the time she finally did, the Cenation leader lost it and quickly beelined to where she was. It is only fitting that the heartwarming moment came at WrestleMania, an event known for creating unforgettable memories.
WrestleMania 33 is most notably remembered for what was believed to be The Undertaker’s retirement at the time. Another notable memory from the event is John Cena proposing to his then girlfriend Nikki Bella after their victory over The Miz and Maryse.
What is often overlooked however is John Cena’s reaction to finding out that his mother was in attendance, watching him live for the first time in his WWE career.

The Miz and John Cena got into a feud after the Cenation Leader eliminated The A-Lister from the 2017 Royal Rumble. This spiraled into their respective partners getting involved as well. A match between the two couples was booked for WrestleMania 33.
Before they even got into the ring, it was rumored that Cena was going to propose to his then longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella. As expected, Cena got on one knee after winning the match and Nikki Bella accepted.
The winning couple, while still celebrating, were surprised when they found Cena’s mother ringside cheering for them.
The 16-time WWE World Champion quickly ran to her and the two embraced in a truly emotional moment.
Why did John Cena and Nikki Bella break up?
Despite the storybook proposal, the couple did not find a fairy tale ending to their romance. In fact, they parted ways a year later after being together for 6 years. But what was the reason behind them calling it quits?
According to Hollywood Life, John Cena and Nikki Bella parted ways due to their views on children. While Nikki was more than eager to start a family, Cena was in no rush. In fact, he wasn’t even sure if he wanted to be a father.
People Magazine later reported that their break-up was a result of Cena getting cold feet as the day of the wedding got closer.
“John Cena talked a really good game about having changed, about having his priorities straight, about knowing what’s important, and that it was her (Nikki Bella). But as the day got closer, it was like he just went back to who he’s always been. Which is someone who puts himself first, always,” the magazine quoted an unnamed source as saying.
