John Cena’s WWE career stretches over two decades, and for the most part, he managed to be at the top. Throughout his legendary in-ring venture, the 16-time champion has defeated and been defeated, by many legends. However, how many of you know the superstar who was the first to pin John Cena at WrestleMania?

The 16-time world champion holds an excellent record at the showcase of immortals. In his 20+ years, John Cena has made 17 WrestleMania appearances, and out of those, he has wrestled in 15. In fact, he successfully emerged victorious 10 times and lost just 5 of them. However, the first person to pin him at the show of shows is one of his best friends and a former in-ring foe.

John Cena faced his first WrestleMania loss against “The Viper” Randy Orton

The rivalry between The Cenation Leader and “The Viper” Randy Orton is undoubtedly one of the best in WWE history. The two icons have delivered many memorable matches and main-event many pay-per-views. In fact, the two off-screen buddies have wrestled each other in many stipulation-based matches.

However, John Cena wrestle his first WrestleMania match in 2004 where he won the US Title from Big Show. He then won his next two matches at the show of shows before facing Randy Orton in 2008.

At WrestleMania 24, holding a record of 4-0, Cena faced Orton(C) and HH for the WWE Championship in a Triple Threat Match. Well, it was the first time John Cena lost a match at WrestleMania. Randy Orton, overpowering his other two opponents, successfully retained his WWE title.

Wrestlemania 24 was just a start as the dynamic duo went on to have one of the most memorable and historic feuds. However, these days, both men are absent from the WWE ring.

The 16-time world champion might be making an appearance at the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV

John Cena, narrowly, managed to maintain his 20-year-long streak in WWE recently. Making his return on the 30 December 2022, episode of SmackDown, he alongside KO defeated the team of Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn. By wrestling that match, Cena kept his streak of wrestling at least one WWE match in the last 20 years.

However, due to his busy Hollywood schedule, The Cenation Leader has been away since then. Though, there are reports, he might enter the men’s Royal Rumble match later this month. In fact, in the betting odds, he is listed as one of the possible winners of the Royal Rumble 2023. Though some reports claim, if he returns, it will only be to set his match at WrestleMania 39.

Nevertheless, there might be some chances of him returning later this month, but that’s not the case for Randy Orton. In fact, the one, against whom Cena faced his first loss at the show of shows, might miss this year’s mega event. Well, not unless he makes a miraculous recovery from his ongoing back issues.
