Will Samoa Joe replace William Regal as NXT General Manager? Regal ended NXT TakeOver: In Your House by foreshadowing a change.

William Regal has been the NXT General Manager since 2014. He has since become synonymous with the role. However, the former Intercontinental Champion recently hinted that his time in the job is possibly coming to an end after seven years.

William Regal is set to make an announcement that could change NXT on the show’s opener tonight. There is speculation that Regal will step down from his position as the General manager and the role will be given to someone else tonight.

Will Samoa Joe replace William Regal as NXT General Manager?

According to Dave Melzter on the Wrestling Observer Radio, Samoa Joe could very lilkely replace Regal as NXT’s next general manager. He said:

“So, I think that’s the cue for Samoa Joe. I don’t know that 100%. I was told today that Samoa Joe was gonna be in a Regal-like role, then all of a sudden Regal’s talking like he’s stepping down, so maybe the Regal-like role is Regal’s role. But if he’s leaving, based on what I was told, Samoa Joe was definitely the favorite to be the new Commissioner. But Joe is in, and he’s in as a non-wrestler, so I think that tells you that he’s not cleared.”

“He’s taken a job in NXT and he’s doing something there, and he may be the new authority figure on television, or he may not be. But he’s gonna be behind-the-scenes.”

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported the following earlier tonight:

“Samoa Joe is backstage at tonight’s WWE NXT TV Taping, PWInsider.com has confirmed.”

Now this doesn’t mean it will or won’t happen. Regarldess, this could mean that the opening announcement will now have quite a lot of eyeballs tonight. Beyond that, the show also has quite a lot else to offer.

There is the tornado tag team match. In fact, Tommaso Ciampa & Timothy Thatcher vs. The Grizzled Young Veterans will close the show. Io Shirai will also address the NXT Universe and WWE Hall of Famer Ted DiBiase Sr. will host a Coronation Ceremony for new Million Dollar Champion LA Knight among quite a few others.
