Jay White WWE AEW

Jay White has been headlining dirt sheets for the last few months following his free-agent status. It was reported that “Switchblade” will either join AEW or WWE once his NJPW contract ends. Even though nothing was clear, most of those reports believed he would most likely join the latter. Sadly, all those hearts were broken after seeing Jay White choosing AEW over WWE recently.

During the recent edition of AEW Dynamite, the former NJPW superstar joined hands with his ex-Bullet Club member, Juice Robinson. The duo kicked off the episode by attacking Ricky Starks. Later, it was officially announced that “Switchblade” is “ALL ELITE”.

However, the arrival of Jay White in AEW has made many fans question the reports that said he will join WWE. Well, Fightful Select’s Will Washington has provided some major insights on the whole matter.

People within WWE were “confident” Jay White would choose them over AEW

Recently, Will Washington retweeted Tony Khan’s post, which confirmed Switchblade is an AEW star now. A fan reacted and questioned the origin of Jay White joining WWE reports. The user wanted to know if there was any credibility to the whole thing.

Will Washington responded to the query and assured the fan that it wasn’t just a rumor. According to him, WWE was very much interested in signing Jay White before he chose to go to AEW. In fact, many people in WWE were confident he will join their company. Will wrote:

“WWE was VERY interested. Multiple people the company were confident it would happen.

Definitely not just a Twitter thing.”

Dave Meltzer has also reported that both companies were keen to sign the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion. In the end, it was Switchblade who decided to be All Elite instead of being a WWE superstar.

The former NJPW Superstar was rumored to debut at WrestleMania 39 or the following Monday Night RAW

Jay White joining AEW is a surprise because up until last week, there were reports that he is heading to WWE. There were rumors of him making his WWE debut on the RAW after WrestleMania 39 episode.

Some dirt sheets even claimed Switchblade might end up debuting at The Grandest Stage of Them All. If not anything, one thing was for sure, Jay White would not sign with AEW.

Nevertheless, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion had picked his side, and it wasn’t WWE. One can question if that has anything to do with Vince McMahon’s return to power. Though as of now, it’s unclear and might stay the same way because Jay White chose AEW over WWE.
