John Cena WrestleMania 39 Spoilers: The Cenation Leader May Face This WWE Superstar Instead of Logan Paul

John Cena was for over a decade the face of WWE. In recent years, however, he has slowly moved on from the promotion to focus on other ventures. He still makes an appearance or two once in a while, but the Cenation Leader has been a conspicuous absence at WWE’s biggest show for the last couple of years. His last appearance at WrestleMania was against Bray Wyatt in a Firefly Funhouse match that saw him lose. He is yet to fight on a WrestleMania card since. Rumors are rife that he could take on Logan Paul at the event. However, it seems that the influencer will have to wait a little longer because Cena may be penciled in to face another WWE star instead.

John Cena recently appeared on the final episode of SmackDown last year. His showing made no indication of his future with the company. That hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from predicting who his opponent at WrestleMania 39 will be. For the longest time, Logan Paul was believed to be the only name in the running, but another name has now been thrown into the mix.

According to Dave Meltzer, the Cenation Leader is all set to face Austin Theory at WrestleMania 39. Speaking on the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, he said:

“It looks like it’s going to be Cena and Theory at Mania. It was the plan way, way back.”

Interestingly, Austin Theory has long been seen by many as the spiritual successor to Austin Theory. He was booked as a major part of the show during Vince McMahon’s run as the creative head, but his momentum slowed down after Triple H took over.

Many believed his character was done for when he tried to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on Seth Rollins for the United States Championship and failed. In the time since, however, his character has recovered significantly, and he has since reclaimed the United States Championship once again.

Another point that we cannot overlook is recent reports that claim John Cena filmed extra material during his last WWE appearance. Interestingly, Theory was also part of the filming. While there is no word on what the content of the filming was, it is very possible that it may have something to do with WrestleMania 39.

John Cena vs Logan Paul

While the WWE never made any official statement regarding the possibility of this match, Logan Paul has publicly stated his desire to face John Cena a few times. He even mentioned asking Triple H for this match on his podcast.

Considering the influence and fan following the two have, this match would be groundbreaking. However, it is also possible that the WWE wants to give the Cena rub onto a possible future star that can carry the company, and who better than the man they see as Cena’s replacement.
