WWE recently celebrated RAW’s 30th Anniversary, which saw some big matches and many legends making an appearance. While icons like The Undertaker, Kurt Angle, and Ric Flair were there, a big name was missing from the show. Well, it’s none other than “The Texas Rattlesnake” Steve Austin. However, there is major news coming out regarding the Hall of Famer. A recent report claims WWE approached Steve Austin for a match against “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns.
At WrestleMania 38, Stone Cold stepped into the WWE ring after almost two decades. However, he still delivered an outstanding performance in an impromptu match against Kevin Owens. It seems WWE has been intrigued after seeing Austin in the ring after so many years. At least that’s what Sean Ross Sapp’s recent report on Fightful Select suggests.
WWE offered Steve Austin a big money to wrestle a match against Roman Reigns
The Bloodline Leader Roman Reigns is in “God Mode” right now because he has been slaying his opponents for over 875 days. In fact, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion looks undefeatable in the ring match after match. It seems WWE that the WWE is looking to cash in on that opportunity by putting Roman Reigns against Steve Austin.
This Monday, Sean Ross Sapp reported that WWE offered Stone Cold a huge money deal in order to face The Bloodline Leader in a major match.
Although no more details were revealed, it was believed that Austin was offered more money than last year. Moreover, Fightful’s report also shed no light on whether Steve Austin agreed or refused the idea of fighting Roman Reigns.
However, Dave Meltzer also discussed the matter in the recent edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Surprisingly, he had totally different news to share.
Dave Meltzer claims it was Brock Lesnar who Stone Cold was pitched to wrestle
What Dave Meltzer said on the Wrestling Observer is totally different from what Sean Ross Sapp reported earlier. According to him, WWE had pitched Steve Austin a match against “The Beast Incarnate” Brock Lesnar.
Not just that, the report also claims the idea was to do the match at this year’s Wrestlemania. However, the plans have changed as Brock returned on RAW XXX and will be continuing his feud with Bobby Lashley.
Nevertheless, it seems there are conflicting reports as to who will be facing who. However, whether Steve Austin faces Roman Reigns or Brock Lesnar, fans will receive both matches with open hearts. Though as of now, it seems nothing is clear regarding Stone Cold’s next WWE match.
