Why Cody Rhodes left AEW

Former AEW EVP Cody Rhodes made a triumphant return earlier this year at the grandest stage. After being away from WWE for six years, Rhodes made history with his comeback. His transformation substantiated the hard work he put in while being away from the company. After defeating Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38, Rhodes seemed unstoppable until he met with an accident in the weight room and tore his pectoral muscle.

Despite his injury, the American Nightmare caused shockwaves after he showed up to Hell in a Cell PPV and defeated Rollins yet again. Although it seems like Rhodes’s career has taken a backseat due to this major setback, sources have confirmed that Rhodes is getting stronger than ever and will be ready to return in 2023.

WWE reportedly has major plans for Rhodes. The two-time Intercontinental Champion has his work cut out as a certain SmackDown superstar is as eager to see Rhodes return to the ring.

Karrion Kross hints at a possible feud with Cody Rhodes

Karrion Kross and Cody Rhodes have never met in the squared circle. In November 2021, Kross was released from the company under Vince McMahon’s regime. Kross and his wife Scarlett were brought back to WWE earlier this year after Triple H came to power.

Since then, the couple has been on a roll. The two-time NXT Champion now has his sights set on the return of Cody Rhodes as he hinted at a possible feud with him. In a video on WWE’s Arabic Instagram account, Superstars were seen participating in a “Thumbs up Thumbs down” game where they gave their opinions on Superstars who popped up on the screen.

When Cody Rhodes’s picture popped up, Karrion Kross and his wife Scarlett voted thumbs down. Although Kross did not explain why he did not vote for Rhodes, he teased a rivalry with him after he stated- “Hmmm… You’ll see eventually”.

Rhodes is rumored to make his return to the ring at the forthcoming PLE, The Royal Rumble. It remains to be seen if Kross and Rhodes cross paths and lock horns in a test of strength.

WWE Hall of Famer wants to see Cody Rhodes win his first-ever WWE Championship

Cody Rhodes has had a very successful wrestling career so far. The former AEW World Champion ruled the roost in WWE’s rival company. After returning to the Stanford-based promotion, there is one thing that Cody is yet to achieve, the coveted WWE Championship.

Speaking on the To Be The Man podcast, Ric Flair expressed his desire to see Rhodes get a shot at The Undisputed WWE Championship against Roman Reigns.

“I hope that Cody [Rhodes] gets a shot at it. You know, he said that it’s a chip that his dad never had and that’s the only chip that Dusty missed in his career was having the WWE Championship,” said Ric Flair.

According to Flair, If Cody wrestles for the gold, he would do something that his father Dusty Rhodes never did. WWE Universe has been speculating about the return of Rhodes at the Royal Rumble elimination match. Surprisingly, some fans are counting on Rhodes to win the battle royal over The Rock.
