Yuvraj Singh’s impressive start to the IPL season could now land him a no. 4 spot and a ticket to England for the World Cup in June, says BCCI.

When Mumbai Indians signed Yuvraj Singh in December, little did we know that the 37-year-old batsman would be in the fray for a World Cup spot for India.

However, after his impressive start to the IPL 2019 with the Mumbai franchise, BCCI has now suggested that Yuvraj Singh could be considered – not only for the selection, but for the number four spot as well!

In an interview, a BCCI official stated that the board is monitoring Yuvraj Singh’s progress in the Indian Premier League and may consider him for the much-disputed number four spot.

In the last few months, the Indian team has experimented with a significant number of players for the fourth spot in batting order. Players like Ambati Rayudu, Rishabh Pant, MS Dhoni and Vijay Shankar have all played in the 4th spopt, yet the team, as well as the fans, are undecided on the position’s final holder.

Yuvraj Singh for the World Cup:

The BCCI official stated that Yuvraj Singh has started the IPL season strongly, which gives the board another option to look out for.

“We are keeping track on Yuvraj Singh’s performances this season,” the official said.

“We’re keeping our options open. There are many players who are under consideration for the World Cup spots and the IPL will help us in providing a fairer picture.

“Yuvraj has had a bright start to the IPL. His innings against Royal Challengers Bangalore was short-lived but dominating. If he continues performing in such a manner, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t consider him for the number 4 spot,” the official added.

Yuvraj Singh, meanwhile, will aim to perform in a similar manner, and maybe, the legendary Indian batsman may return to the Indian blue again.

While a final decision is yet to be made on the Indian squad, Yuvraj would hope to maintain his form. However, it is important to note that today is April 1, so you shouldn’t be taking this article seriously.
