Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Carlos Vela claims that he is better than the LA Galaxy star just a day after his side lost the Los Angeles Derby 3-2.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic bought the MLS to life last night after a brilliant hat-trick. Emotions and tempers flared before, during and after the match but that is to be expected of Zlatan when he plays like he has something to prove.

Without a doubt, the most popular player in the league, Ibrahimovic was made to feel embarrassed after a journalist claimed that LA FC player Carlos Vela was better than him. Zlatan, in typical fashion, talked a big game and announced that he was far better than the Mexican forward.
“How old is he? Twenty-nine? And he’s playing in MLS and he’s in his prime. When I was 29 [I was in Europe]. Big difference.” The big Swede had said before the match.
"[Carlos Vela] is playing in MLS and he's in his prime. When I was 29 where was I?"

Zlatan went on to back his words with action as he scored a hat-trick to win the match for his side.

However, Carlos Vela does not agree with Zlatan despite ending on the losing side.
ESPN have reported Vela as saying:
“Comparing would show a lack of respect towards him, but if we look at the stats and forget age and whatever, I’m better than him right now. That’s the reality.”
Vela addresses the Zlatan comparisons.
“Look, to compare me to Zlatan overall is an insult to him. But right now, in terms of stats and regardless of age. I’m better than Zlatan.” #LAvLAFC #MLS #ElTrafico pic.twitter.com/fyc9aisKNP

Vela scored both of his team goals on the night. However, he was thoroughly outplayed and outclassed by the Swedish star. The Mexican may not agree with that. However, he was polite enough to concede that Zlatan is leagues ahead of him.
“And in terms of the rest, he’s been Zlatan and only [Lionel] Messi and Cristiano [Ronaldo] are better than him; the rest of us aren’t in the same league.”
