Pakistani fans erupt in joy post Babar Azam’s century: Fans couldn’t control their emotions after Babar Azam’s splendid innings.
During the 33rd match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 between New Zealand and Pakistan at Edgbaston, Pakistan batsman Babar Azam scored his 10th ODI century in a match-winning effort. Coming in a nearly must-win situation, the knock was relished by plentiful Pakistani fans present in the ground.
Chasing a 238-run target, Pakistan losing opening batsman Fakhar Zaman (9) in the third over meant that the task wasn’t going to be easy for them. With the conditions favouring the bowlers, New Zealand did have an upper hand on the match at that point in time.
However, it was a 126-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Azam and Haris Sohail (68) which saw Pakistan cross the victory line in the last over. The duo was resolute in nature, not letting New Zealand run away with the advantage.
Coming in to bat at No. 3, Azam batted for over 46 overs to ensure Pakistan’s third victory of the tournament. In what wasn’t an archetype limited-overs innings, Azam followed the orthodox approach to chase an orthodox target under orthodox English conditions.
On the second delivery of the 27th over, Azam ran a single off New Zealand captain Kane Williamson to complete his half-century soon after veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez’s (32) dismissal. On the brink of victory, Azam ran a single off Lockie Ferguson in the 48th over to reach the three-figure mark.
Sarfaraz was also seen asking the crowd to cheer for Babar Azam as soon as the match came to a close.

India has Kohli. Australia have Steven Smith. England has batsmen everywhere. New Zealand have Williamson. South Africa had AB de Villiers.

A World Cup classic by Babar Azam in Birmingham. Easily the best century of his career. Few more such innings and he will convert the Fab Four club into THE FAB FIVE! #PakvNZ
