And he has just revealed the secret to his new found form – a bigger racquet !
Yes, something as simple as changing to a new racquet has been the catalyst to one of the greatest of all time playing some of the best tennis of his career. Federer credits his coach for this as it has helped him better his backhands in games.

“I think the backhand has gotten better because I have been able to put in so many hours onto the racquet now,” he told reporters following his fourth-round win at Indian Wells. “And since this year, I feel super comfortable with the racquet, and I think I have gained confidence stepping into it.
“I think it was the work that I had in [the offseason]. You never play 10 backhand-to-backhand shots, but in practice you practice those a ton and eventually they are ingrained in the system. Federer told his in post match press conference after he comfortably beat Rafael Nadal in the fourth round at Indian Wells.

“It was obvious that I didn’t have the right answer for his returns,” he said. “I needed to neutralize the points. I needed to neutralize his first two balls, and I didn’t. I didn’t play my best match.”
