Jon Moxley: AEW Superstar surprisingly denies that the fledgling promotion is at War with WWE in an interview with the store horseman.
In a recent interview with the Store Horseman, former WWE Superstar Jon Moxley denied that AEW are in competition with the WWE. In fact, the current IWGP U.S champion claimed that WWE doing good was good for wrestling in general.
He said:
“The more wrestling that is good, the more fans that there are and the better it is for everybody.”
“This is not the Monday Night Wars. They are always going to be there. It would be a fool’s errand to try and take them down. It wouldn’t be good for the wrestling business to try and take them down. We are providing a good alternative, showing that there is a world outside of that.”
Moxley welcomed the decision to appoint Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as executive directors of Raw and SmackDown respectively. He gave them the green signal before adding:
“I just hope Vince lets them do their ideas. It’s not just ‘I made him head of creative, but I’m telling him what to do type of thing.”
As proven by the full house shows at Double or Nothing and Fyter Fest, the fans are very excited for AEW’s television debut and can’t wait any longer. Moxley shares the same sentiment and giddiness towards his new promotion’s television premiere.
“I can’t wait, it’s super exciting, it’s going to be challenging, we have no idea what is going to happen, but we are making history. First time in a long time. TNA was prime time for a little bit but this is a first since basically WCW.”
AEW will have a two-hour weekly TV show airing live on TNT in the United States. The program will start airing from October onward.
