The report regarding Jonty’s nomination for the post was reported by Mumbai Mirror on Wednesday. Jonty has arguably been regarded as one of the best fielders of all time.
His decision of entering into the list of applicants, might give a run for money to his fellow applicants, including the present Indian team fielding coach- R. Sridhar, who has also re-applied for the post.

However, Sridhar too has done no wrong as India has emerged as one of the strongest fielding units under his coaching. But, with Jonty likely to make a strong case for himself, it might be a hard task cut-out for the management.
Jonty Rhodes has served as the fielding coach of the IPL franchise Mumbai Indians from 2009 to 2017. He left the job to oversee his business and was replaced by James Pamment. Apart from Mumbai Indians, he has had coaching stints with Sri Lanka, Kenya and Pakistan.
