WATCH: Barmy Army chants ‘Arise Sir Jofra’ after English fast bowler returns beach ball to fans at Western Terrace
Barmy Army chants ‘Arise Sir Jofra’: The fans at the Western Terrace were witnessed in a hilarious interaction with the English fast bowler.
During the second day of the third Test of the ongoing 2019 Ashes series between England and Australia at Headingley, England fast bowler Jofra Archer was witnessed as funnily interacting with the fans sitting at the western terrace of the stadium.
It all happened after the completion of the 36th over bowled by England spinner Jack Leach. It started with a beach ball being thrown in the ground. While the security guard present in front of the stand was about to throw the ball back, Archer ran all the way to the boundary to do the same himself.
Archer’s gesture of throwing the ball back into the crowd was followed by loud cheers from the crowd for him. Despite Archer returning back to his fielding position, the cheers kept on coming and were soon converted into chants of “Arise Sir Jofra”.
Having dismissed Australia for 179 last night, England failed to capitalize on the advantage especially after they got bundled out for 67 in 27.5 overs in the first innings.
Veteran England fast bowler Stuart Broad made early inroads into the Australia batting lineup after he found opening batsman David Warner wanting in front of the stumps. However, decent contributions from other batsmen since then has seen the visitors’ lead cross the 250-run mark.
