Ravindra Jadeja caught and bowled van der Dussen: The Indian all-rounder followed his captain’s footsteps in Mohali.

During the second T20I of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Mohali, India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja put on display an extraordinary fielding effort off his own bowling to dismiss South Africa middle-order batsman Rassie van der Dussen.

It all happened on the first delivery of the 13th over when van der Dussen’s attempt of hitting a straight delivery on the leg-side saw him hitting it back to the bowler. Deceived by Jadeja’s brilliance, the batsman ended up playing a very ordinary shot.

With the ball going to the right of Jadeja, he was alert enough to dive on his wrong side. Attempting to catch the ball with both hands, Jadeja made sure he didn’t let the chance go away. Having come in to bat at No. 4 in the previous over, van der Dussen ended up scoring 1 (2).

Brought into the attack as a second-change bowler in the seventh over, Jadeja picked his first wicket in the form of van der Dussen in his last over. The 30-year old cricketer eventually registered bowling figures of 4-0-31-1.

After India captain Virat Kohli won the toss and put South Africa in to bat, the visitors ended up scoring 149/5 in their allotted quota of 20 overs. Having scored 52 (37) with the help of eight fours after opening the batting, captain Quinton de Kock was South Africa’s highest run-scorer. With bowling figures of 4-0-22-2, India pacer Deepak Chahar was the pick of the Indian bowlers.
