Shahbaz Nadeem caught and bowled vs South Africa: The debutant Indian spinner registered an unusual caught and bowled in Ranchi.

During the fourth day of the third Test of the ongoing South Africa’s tour of India in Ranchi, India spinner Shahbaz Nadeem’s alertness saw him grabbing a peculiar catch to dismiss South Africa fast bowler Lungi Ngidi.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 48th over when Ngidi’s attempt of hitting a ball down the ground saw him hitting it straight to non-striker Anrich Nortje. Given the timing on the ball, Nortje had no time whatsoever to move away from the direction of the ball.

After hitting Nortje, the ball ended up lobbing in the air which was eventually caught by Nadeem. In what was the last South African wicket, Nadeem completing the dismissal saw India winning the match by an innings and 202 runs.

Following on, South Africa were bundled out for 133 in 48 overs in the second innings. Theunis de Bruyn, who came in as a concussion substitute for the injured Dean Elgar, top-scored for South Africa with 30 (49) with the help of four fours and a six.

With bowling figures of 10-6-10-3, fast bowler Mohammed Shami was the pick of the bowlers for India. While fast bowler Umesh Yadav and Nadeem picked up a couple of wickets each, the senior spinner-duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed a South African batsman each.

Having won the match, India have successfully whitewashed South Africa 3-0 in this series.
