Report: MS Dhoni likely to practice with Jharkhand U-23 team
Dhoni likely to practice with Jharkhand U-23 team: The veteran wicket-keeper batsman is expected to resume training soon.
Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni was among the various facets of cricket which the newly-elected BCCI President Sourav Ganguly talked about in his first press conference after taking charge yesterday in Mumbai.
Given the 38-year old cricketer’s absence from the game post the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, there is a new speculation every passing day regarding his future.
“Champions don’t finish quickly… India is very proud to have him.”

While it was speculated that Ganguly was slate to speak to the selectors with respect to Dhoni today, the same is yet to be confirmed. However, going by a fresh report, Dhoni is set to resume training with Jharkhand’s U-23 team in Ranchi.
“He [MS Dhoni] spoke to a support staff of the senior Jharkhand team but as they would be leaving for Surat to participate in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy T20s starting on November 8, he is likely to practise with under-23 boys at the stadium,” a source close to developments was quoted as saying as per New Indian Express.
The source further talked about Dhoni already starting physical training in the gym. If the same report if to be believed, Dhoni won’t take part in international cricket this year. If the same holds any truth, the legendary cricketer might be targeting the three-match ODI series against Australia at home in January for an international comeback.
“He has started working on his fitness by training at the gym. He also plays badminton, tennis and billiards at the venue. They all are part of his preparations. He might start playing competitive cricket from January which means he will not be a part of the Jharkhand team for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy,” the source further added.
