George Bailey batting stance vs Victoria: The Tasmanian batsman continued his experimentation with his batting stance.

During the first day of the seventh match of the ongoing season of the Sheffield Shield between Tasmania and Victoria in Hobart, veteran Tasmania batsman George Bailey was seen batting in an unusual batting stance against Victoria fast bowler Chris Tremain.

In the 25th over of the Tasmanian innings, Bailey almost showed his back to the bowler who was running in to bowl. It was at the last moment that Bailey took an orthodox batting position to eventually pull a short delivery from Tremain.

It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time that Bailey has experimented with his batting stance. The 37-year old batsman has attempted similar batting techniques in international cricket as well.

After Tasmania captain Matthew Wade won the toss and put the visitors in to bat, Victoria were bundled out for 127 in 41.5 overs. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 19th over, batsman Nic Maddinson top-scored for Victoria with 69 (68) with the help of five fours and six sixes.

Having picked three wickets each, Alex Pycroft and Jackson Bird were the pick of the bowlers for the hosts.

Bailey, who came in to bat at No. 5 in the 15th over, ended up scoring 41 (67) with the help of six fours before getting caught and bowled off Victoria spinner Jon Holland.

At the time of writing this article, Tasmania trail by a meagre 22 runs. With Wade batting in the middle, the home team would be hoping for the skipper to gain a significant lead in the first innings. With three more days left in the day, expect a clear result in this match.
