Aaron Wan Bissaka’s performance against Manchester City compels pundits to praise him, which helped Manchester United bag three points.

Manchester United made headlines after defeating fierce city rivals Manchester City in the 16th game-week of the Premier League. The Red Devils as a unit showed great performance and decimated Pep Guardiola’s side with their gameplan.

With Manchester United scoring two goals early in the game, Manchester City was totally at discomfort. Even though the Citizens have a world-class attack, they still struggled ahead.

Courtesy to Manchester United’s defence who remained disciplined throughout the match. But certainly, Aaron Wan Bissaka stood out amidst all the brilliance.

£45 million worth summer signing Wan-Bissaka was tasked with one of the hardest jobs in world football, keeping both Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne quiet for a full 90 minutes.

The English defender did his duty well and prevented any of them making an impact in the game. The 22-year-old ended the game with an incredible seven clearances, five tackles, four blocks, and two interceptions to his name.

Such was the nature of his performance in fact, that Martin Keown, speaking on Match of The Day, labelled the young right-back the ‘best one on one defender in the league’.

Analysing a highlight reel of some of his finest moments, Arsenal and Premier League legend Keown’s praise did not end there. Keown continued:

“Sterling has got electric pace, but it doesn’t matter. He goes in and takes charge of things and he’s got that pace. He wants to show him down the line, his set up’s right and he’s got quick feet. This is something I was good at myself and I think this guy is ahead of me!”.

Although, Wan Bissaka still has to work on his attack and have to be a well-rounded full-back, as every top team in Europe require someone at that position, who can attack.
