Dale Steyn in BBL: The veteran bowler was successful in taking redemption against the Strikers’ opening batsman at Carrara Oval.

During 13th match of the ninth season of the ongoing Big Bash League between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars at the Carrara Oval, Adelaide Strikers opening batsman Jake Weatherald went all out against veteran Melbourne Stars fast bowler Dale Steyn.

Playing his first match of the season, Steyn was welcomed with no mark of respect as Weatherald hit him for two sixes and fours each in his first over itself.

The southpaw sensed an opportunity to hit down the ground with Steyn bowling in the powerplay. An apt execution of his plans saw Weatherald hitting four consecutive shots down the ground off Steyn.

Despite him not not timing the ball on each occasion, he yielded the desired results because of the gaps available. However, it was on the last delivery of the over that Steyn had the last laugh as Weatherald ended up giving a simple catch to Melbourne captain Glenn Maxwell at mid-on.

Opening the batting with Philip Salt (14), Weatherald ended up scoring 21 (7) with the help of two fours and two sixes. In the three overs which Steyn bowled in the match, he conceded 29 runs and picked the lone wicket of Weatherald.

Chasing a 175-run target, Stars lost the match by four runs as veteran Strikers pacer Peter Siddle (4-0-24-3) defended 12 runs in the last over.
