Tom Blundell Century: Watch New Zealand batsman turn Kiwi fans celebrate in ‘Dada’ fashion
Tom Blundell Century: Watch New Zealand batsman turn Kiwi fans celebrate his century in ‘Dada’ style as he scores a century against Australia.
Australia had a thumping win against New Zealand in the 2nd Test match of the series. The Aussies wrapped up the game before the end of the 4th day to claim the win by 247 runs.
Amidst all of this, one thing to cheer about for New Zealand fans was Tom Blundell’s century against Australia. The opening batsman of Newzealand stayed till last to put up a decent fight against Australia’s mammoth score.
His ton was a special moment for Newzealand, as he became the first Kiwi at the Melbourne cricket ground (MCG) to score a hundred. Thus, it filled New Zealand full of joy.
As Blundell scored the century, the fans supporting New Zealand waved off their shirts to celebrate his ton in ‘Dada’ style, a kind of celebration attributed to Sourav Ganguly, who famously waved off his jersey in Lords’ pavilion while India won against England in the Natwest 2002 series.

On the other hand, Australia easily won the match as a mammoth score of 467 in the first innings made New Zealand crumble under the score of 148.
In the second innings, Australia declared their innings after adding 168 runs to the lead of 319 runs. Thus, New Zealand had to chase 489 runs in order to win the match.
But, New Zealand lost their wickets easily in a quick succession except for Blundell, who stayed on the pitch till the end. Although, his efforts were not significant enough to make his side survive against mighty Australian bowling.
