ICC Awards 2019 Winners List: The Sportsrush present before you the full list of the recently announced ICC 2019 Awards.
England all-rounder Ben Stokes has won the Sir Garfield Sobers Trophy for being declared the ICC World Player of the Year for the year 2019 in the recently announced ICC Awards. In the year 2019, Stokes scored 1,540 runs and picked 34 wickets across formats.
Apart from playing a pivotal role in England’s World Cup winning campaign last year, Stokes played one of the greatest ever Test innings in a successful chase in the Ashes that followed the World Cup.
India limited-overs vice-captain Rohit Sharma was named the ICC ODI Player of the Year in a year where he broke numerous records in the format. In 28 ODIs in 2019, Sharma scored 1,490 runs at an average of 57.30 and a strike rate of 89.92 including seven centuries and six half-centuries.
Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins was named the ICC Test Player of the Year. In 12 Test matches, Cummins dismissed 59 batsmen at an average of 20.13, an economy rate of 2.70 and a strike rate of 44.7 including two five-wicket hauls.
India captain Virat Kohli won the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award for his gesture towards Australia batsman Steve Smith during the India-Australia clash in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
India seamer Deepak Chahar, who made inroads into the limited-overs side this year, won the award for Best T20I Performance of the year. Chahar had registered bowling figures of 4-2-8-6 including a hat-trick against Bangladesh in Nagpur.
Australia all-rounder Marnus Labuschagne, who made a surprising Test debut in the Ashes, ended up winning the ICC Men’s Emerging Cricketer Award on the back of scoring 1,066 runs in 10 Test matches at an average of 66.62 and a strike rate of 56.22 including three centuries and seven half-centuries.
