Rivaldo Moonsamy’s caterpillar celebration: Northerns’ batsman put on display an all-time amusing celebration in cricket.

During a Pool B match of the ongoing CSA 3-Day Provincial Cup between Northerns and Border in Pretoria, Northerns batsman Rivaldo Moonsamy put on display an all-time amusing celebration in cricket after dismissing an opposition batsman.

It all happened on the last delivery of the 69th over when Border all-rounder Nonelela Yikha was found plumb in front of the stumps off a delivery from the part-time spinner in Moonsamy.

Just as the umpire raised his finger to rule the batsman out, Moonsamy couldn’t control his excitement as he started moving on the ground like a caterpillar. The jocularity regarding the celebration was also visible on other Northerns’ players.

Coming in to bat at No. 6 in the 27th over, Yikha top-scored for his team with 66 (137) with the help of 10 fours before the match was drawn at Stumps on Day 3. Bowling his fifth over, Moonsamy picked his first wicket in the form of Yikha.

With bowling figures of 27-8-77-3, Northerns spinner Kyle Simmonds was the pick of their bowlers in the second innings. It is worth mentioning that Simmonds had also registered bowling figures of 20-6-59-4 in the first innings when Border were ruled out for 209 in 59.3 overs as Jonathan Vandiar enforced the follow-on.

After Vandiar won the toss and elected to bat, Northerns scored 416/10 in 103.1 overs on the back of Evan Jones scoring a match-winning 112 (89) with the help of six fours and six sixes after coming in to bat at No. 7.
