Watch: Steve Smith’s acrobatic fielding on the boundary line saves 5 runs off Quinton De Kock’s shot during the 2nd T20I between South Africa and Australia.

South Africa and Australia are currently engaged in the 2nd of a 3 T20I match series. The visitors steamrolled the hosts in the first match with Ashton Agar picking up 5 wickets to lead his side to a landslide 108 run victory.

The Quinton De Kock led side have fared much better in their batting in the second match. They have scored 139 runs in 17 overs at the moment of writing. The skipper took the responsibility this time smashing the Aussie bowlers all over the park for his 47 ball 70.

However, De Kock could have very well had 5 more runs added to his name if not for Steve Smith’s heroics on the boundary line.

In the last over of the powerplay, De Kock smashed a short ball from Adam Zampa that was pitched outside off. The ball seemed to be flying over the ropes. However, Australia’s own superman, Steve Smith rushed to his left at deep mid-wicket and flung himself in the air.

He caught the ball mid-air after stretching his hands. However, once he realized that he was going over the ropes, he let go off the ball and safely parried it back into play.

What should have been a six, ended up being just a single and Australia have Steve Smith’s phenomenal effort to thank.
