F1 News And Rumours: Mercedes confirm decision over Sebastian Vettel signing next season; the German driver will leave Ferrari next season.

Sebastian Vettel has been speculated to join Mercedes ever since he announced his departure from Ferrari in 2021. The rumours quote that Vettel will probably replace Valtteri Bottas.

Sebastian Vettel to Mercedes?

And amidst all of this, the people in Mercedes have spoken about the situation, as in one place Bottas is confident about his extension, whereas Toto Wolff has been diplomatic about it.

However, the binding words remain with the top of the food chain, and Mercedes’ CEO being one has clarified the company’s stance over Vettel making a switch to Mercedes.

Ola Kallenius, who is the CEO of Mercedes’ parent company (Daimler), has announced that both Hamilton and Bottas will be handed new contracts beyond this season.

“We’re staying with our two boys,” Kallenius told Sky. “I can understand that this is a very exciting thought for the German fans. But with Lewis and Valtteri we already have two top drivers who perform at the highest level.

“We saw it yesterday with Valtteri taking pole with a fantastic lap. We stand by the two drivers that we have now.” he further said.

Vettel’s future still unknown

Despite a month passing by since Ferrari broke this news, Vettel hasn’t announced his new whereabouts to the world, even after the first race of the season.

Vettel could have joined McLaren but Daniel Ricciardo soon made the switch to McLaren after his disappointing stint with Renault, with this the second spot for Renault is still vacant.

But as of now, there aren’t strong rumours of Vettel going there, instead, Bottas and Fernando Alonso have been linked with the French side.

Many suggest that only Mercedes can fulfill the appetite of Vettel after Ferrari and Red Bull, thus it is a huge possibility that the German might take a sabbatical unless Mercedes doesn’t submit an offer to him.
