Rachel Nichols secretly recorded in NBA Bubble hotel room by ESPN employee; statement issued
ESPN’s Rachel Nichols was secretly recorded by ESPN employee in her hotel room and had private conversations leaked ahead of NBA bubble.
ESPN employee Rachel Nichols, who is the host of the NBA show ‘The Jump’ has had her private phone conversations leaked by her fellow ESPN employee. The identity of the employee who leaked the conversations is anonymous.
The revelation has come as a massive shock to ESPN as a whole, with Nichols yet to comment on the issue.
Rachel Nichols’ private conversations leaked
Nichols who is famous for hosting the ESPN show ‘The Jump’ had her private phone conversations leaked as she was secretly recorded in her NBA bubble hotel room in Orlando.
The video was sent to a media publishing house Deadspin. They reported told that an anonymous source sent a Deadspin reporter four edited videos that showed Rachel Nichols in a phone conversation about personnel matters at the network.

The report states that although the video didn’t show Nichols’s face, it did have conversations about her career, ESPN staff, and the future of the show.
The entire ‘video recording operation’ was carried out to expose Rachel Nichols as a backstabber in the system. However, according to Deadspin, the video of her telephone messages in no way portrayed her as a backstabber.
The video was recorded from Nichols’s hotel room in Orlando where she is quarantined. She will host ‘The Jump’ from inside the Bubble.
Nichols seemed completely unaware of her being recorded inside her room.
ESPN’S statement on the matter
ESPN did issue a statement citing the breach of privacy. They have acknowledged that a privacy breach did take place and that they will be getting into the root of the matter.
They also clarified that all of their staffing decisions are based on the circumstances at hand, with respect to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We are extremely disappointed about the leak of a private conversation. It’s indefensible and an intrusion on Rachel’s privacy,”. the statement continued. “As for the substance of the conversation, it is not reflective of our decision-making on staffing assignments for the NBA, which has largely been driven by the circumstances of the pandemic.”
This could possibly be some fellow employee trying to take down Nichols. She is one most prominent and successful women in the network’s history as well as the NBA.
The NBA restarts on the 30th of July. Nichols will have a lot of work up her sleeves with hosting the show from inside the Bubble and covering every match. We just hope that this incident doesn’t play on her mind and she can do her job professionally.
