Eoin Morgan Injury Update: Why is Moeen Ali leading England in place of Morgan in 3rd ODI vs Ireland?
Eoin Morgan Injury Update: The English captain won’t take the field in the second innings of the third ODI against Ireland.
During the third ODI of the ongoing Ireland’s tour of England in Southampton, England captain Eoin Morgan has decided to not take field in the second innings as a precautionary measure.
Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the fourth over, Morgan scored his 14th ODI century in the first innings as he has further reduced the deficit in the list of most ODI centuries for England.
After Ireland captain Andrew Balbirnie won the toss and invited the hosts in to bat, England scored 328/10 in 49.5 overs. Other than Morgan leading from the front with his 106 (84) including 15 fours and four sixes, Tom Banton (58) and David Willey (51) also scored individual half-centuries to put England in a commanding position.
With bowling figures of 10-1-53-3, Craig Young was the pick of the Irish bowlers as the likes of Joshua Little and Curtis Campher also picked a couple of wickets each.

England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who was announced as Morgan’s deputy before the series, has been named to lead England in the field in this match.

With England already winning the first two matches, they have gained an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Having bundled out Ireland in both the matches so far, English bowlers would be looking to register a thumping victory to register a series whitewash.
