Dom Sibley run-out vs Pakistan: The English opening batsman made his present felt on the field in the form of a run-out dismissal.

During the third day of the first Test of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of England in Manchester, England opening batsman Dom Sibley put on display his outstanding fielding skills as he affected a run-out dismissal to send back Pakistan batsman Asad Shafiq.

It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the 34th over when Pakistan wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan and Shafiq’s decision to run a quick single was proved wrong by Sibley.

Having dabbed a delivery on the off-side, Rizwan was keen in a single and received immediate response from his non-striker in Shafiq. Sibley, who was fielding at point, ran from his position to pick the ball and throw it against the momentum towards the stumps.

The replays then confirmed that Shafiq was way outside the crease when the ball hit the stumps. Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the 20th over, Shafiq ended up scoring 29 (43) with the help of three fours.

Shafiq’s dismissal saw the visitors losing half their side in the second innings. England vice-captain Ben Stokes opting to bowl despite an injury played a vital role in reducing Pakistan to 137/8 in 44 overs at Stumps. Pakistan, who currently lead by 244 runs, will be looking to add as many runs as possible tomorrow before defending a total.

As far as the English bowlers are concerned, Stokes, Chris Woakes and Stuart Broad picked a couple of wickets each to ensure that Pakistan don’t bat them out of the match.
