Rahul Dravid is named India ‘A’ and Under 19 coach
Legendary batsman Rahul Dravid has done a stellar job as the youth team coach. And he has been rewarded for his work, as Rahul Dravid is named India ‘A’ and Under 19 coach. Clearly the BCCI have earmarked the great man as a someone who could take over the reigns of the national team.
With a lot of controversy surrounding Anil Kumble’s role as the head coach, the BCCI wanted to prevent any such issue cropping up in this one. Which is why there has already been a clarification in regards to Dravid’s coaching contract. There is a provision to extend his contract mentioned in writing, which was not the case in Kumble’s case.

“In Dravid’s contract, there is a line which states the BCCI can give an extension to him. Whereas, in (Anil) Kumble’s contract there is no clause of extension. That is why process (to call me applicants) was followed in Kumble’s case,” the BCCI official was quoted as saying by the news outlet.
The CAC has approved the two-year extension and now everything depends on money to be paid to Dravid. The earlier contract was for ten months and board paid him more than four crores. Now, a new contract with new salary has to be provided. There is the chance that his appointment would come up at board special general body meeting,” another source revealed.
Rahul Dravid has been an incredible servant for Indian cricket, and if he ends up being half as good a coach as he was a player, then we might have discovered the perfect coach for the Indian team.
