‘We are going to need all our institutions’- Barack Obama tweets on course of action following NBA Boycott
NBA Boycott has caught the imagination of the entire nation, with Barack Obama too tweeting about how all of United States’ institutions need to come together to enforce change.
It’s been a day of ‘boycotts’ in America, with the NBA leading the way towards creating more awareness about police brutality and racial injustice in the country.
When the Bucks decided to boycott their playoff game vs Magic in the Disney Bubble tonight, fans didn’t quite know what to expect. But all other teams swiftly followed suit and the NBA went into yet another ‘lockdown’.
Players were convinced that a drastic step was needed in order to coerce government institutions to bring about change in the society. And while boycotting games won’t achieve that on its own, it helps providing a trigger in what is a much larger movement.
Barack Obama tweets in support of NBA boycott
Former US President, Barack Obama has been very close to NBA players and was quick to tweet about the Boycott. He congratulated the Bucks for taking a stand and taking a bold step.
Moreover, he also went onto highlight how Doc Rivers has been using his platform to propagate the message about ‘Black Lives Matter’.
I commend the players on the @Bucks for standing up for what they believe in, coaches like @DocRivers, and the @NBA and @WNBA for setting an example. It’s going to take all our institutions to stand up for our values. pic.twitter.com/rUGETgAt7P
