‘Giannis Antetokounmpo to join Miami Heat’- NBA executive reveals Bucks star’s plans if he loses to Heat

Senior NBA writer for The Athletic, Sam Amick has confirmed NBA executive is of the opinion that Giannis Antetokounmpo will join the Miami Heat.

The Milwaukee Bucks kicked off their Conference Semifinals with a humbling loss to the 5th-seeded Miami Heat. After outscoring them 40-29 in the first quarter, they got outgunned by an 86-64 margin over the next 3 quarters. In the last 6 minutes of the game, Jimmy Butler outscored the Bucks 13-6 all by himself. His steal on Khris Middleton sealed the game with 27 seconds left.

Giannis may join Miami Heat if the Milwaukee Bucks lose to them this year

Giannis has been rumored to be a top priority for the Miami Heat in the offseason of 2021 for quite some time already. Victor Oladipo is one other 2021 free agent on their radar.

The Greek Freak is on the verge of winning a second successive MVP award. He will become only the third player in league history to win both MVP and DPOY trophies in the same season after Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon.

“So, let’s read this room,” Sam Amick of The Athletic wrote.

“I asked the aforementioned front office executive which team Antetokounmpo might wind up with if Miami goes on to finish this job and create such havoc for the Bucks.

“’The Heat,’ he said.”

The Miami Heat present an intriguing opportunity for Giannis should he wish to play for them. They have championship pedigree with president Pat Riley, coach Erik Spoelstra and Andre Iguodala. Miami is a much more desirable place to live at rather than Milwaukee. The Heat can also add free agents to support the Greek Freak much more easily due to this.

But joining the team that beat him would lead to Giannis receiving the same kind of backlash as Kevin Durant since 2016. There is a lot of ignominy in the ‘Can’t Beat ’em, join ’em’ camp. Giannis is also reportedly coveted by the Dallas Mavericks, who presumably signed his brother as a way to lure him.
