Giannis Antetokounmpo contract: Details of Bucks contract and 4 possible trade destinations
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s future is shrouded in mystery following the Bucks’ playoff losses to the Miami Heat in the Conference Semifinals.
Giannis signed a 4-year, $100 million contract in the 2016-17 season that looks really cheap given his play through the past 3 seasons.
But the probable back-to-back MVP has been unable to make the NBA Finals, despite having stupendous individual campaigns over the last 2 years especially. Are the Bucks going to pull the trigger on a trade or risk losing him for free in the 2021 offseason?
Possible Trade Destinations for Giannis
The Milwaukee Bucks may find a variety of suitors for their MVP if they have no choice other than to shop him in the trade market.
The most prominent among those are likely to be:
(a) Toronto Raptors – The Canadian team, who’re still reigning champions right now, have the ability to trade a very similar player in Pascal Siakam in order to acquire the Greek Freak. In addition, they have enough squad depth with potential to add on makeweights to the trade.

(b) Miami Heat – The Heat can dangle first-time All Star and Defensive Player of the Year candidate Bam Adebayo as an attractive trade bait for the Bucks to beat off any competition. They also have some promising young players with the likes of Tyler Herro and Kendrick Nunn in their squad to offer as makeweights.
(c) Dallas Mavericks – The Mavs will look bloody good with 2 MVP candidates on the same team. Given the injury concerns to their star big man Kristaps Porzingis, they might pull the trigger on a trade involving Giannis.
(d) Golden State Warriors – The Warriors seem to have an outside chance of netting Giannis if they are willing to give up Klay Thompson. But the possibility of that is a really long shot when they’d rather risk taking chances on him as a free agent.
