Virat Kohli Explains Why India Lost To West Indies

Virat Kohli was very disappointed with India’s performance in the 4th ODI against the West Indies in Antigua. The Indian skipper was at a loss for words as the famous Indian batting line up failed to score a paltry a 190 runs to win.

In reply to the West Indies, Dhawan, Kohli and Karthik fell cheaply as the West Indian bowlers laid the squeeze on them. Rahane battled on with Dhoni, but neither of them could stay long enough to take their team home.

Kohli claims poor shot selection as the main reason why India lost to the West Indies.

“Our shot selection wasn’t up to the mark,” said the Indian captain in the post-match presentation, “Losing crucial wickets at crucial stages. You’ve got to keep up the momentum through the game.” Kohli also said that the pitch “felt a bit two-paced.”

“We bowled really well to restrict them to 189,” said Kohli, “Credit to the West Indies bowlers. They created those dot balls that induced those mistakes. The bowlers were on the mark, and the fielders as well. With the bat we faltered and that can happen in this game. We just have to put this behind us and come back fresh for the next game,” said the Indian captain,” he concluded.

After India won the previous two matches convincingly, they were obviously the favourites heading into this match. But this loss now makes the next match a ‘must-win’ game as they look to wrap up the series.
