DC vs RCB target to qualify for playoffs: What should be margin of victory for DC and RCB to better KKR's NRR?

DC vs RCB target: Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore will indulge in 20 intriguing overs of cricket in Abu Dhabi.

During the 55th match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Abu Dhabi, Royal Challengers Bangalore scored 152/7 in their allotted quota of 20 overs.

After being put in to bat by Delhi Capitals captain Shreyas Iyer, Royal Challengers got off to a decent start which saw them scoring 40/1 in the powerplay.

Opening batsman Devdutt Padikkal (50) and captain Virat Kohli (29) stitched a 57-run partnership for the second wicket to lay a foundation for the others to follow. However, both of them and all-rounder Chris Morris (0) getting out in quick succession handed the advantage to Capitals.

Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the 13th over, Bangalore wicket-keeper batsman AB de Villiers scoring 35 (21) played a crucial role in powering his team to a competitive total at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Playing a must-win match, Royal Challengers would have initially thought of adding more runs to their tally but a disciplined bowling performance from Delhi’s bowlers didn’t let it happen. With bowling figures of 4-0-33-3, Capitals fast bowler Anrich Nortje was the pick of their bowlers. Other than Nortje, fast bowler Kagiso Rabada and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picked two and one wicket respectively.

For RCB to have a better NRR than KKR – Don’t lose the match before 17.3 overs.

For DC to have a better NRR than KKR – Score at least 134 runs in a 153-run target.

In simple words, if Delhi seal this chase in 17.3 overs and Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Mumbai Indians tomorrow, Royal Challengers won’t qualify for IPL 2020 playoffs.

NOTE: Since the Net Run Rate is calculated with respect to the number of runs scored, this calculation will only remain valid if Capitals score an exact 153 run. In case they end up scoring more in the case of hitting a six when needing a single to win, the numbers will change for RCB.
