Rohit Sharma comments on Farokh Engineer's controversial statement regarding Anushka Sharma

Rohit Sharma comments on Farokh Engineer’s controversial statement: The Indian captain was vocal about the recent controversy.

Speaking during an event in Delhi yesterday, stand-in India captain Rohit Sharma refused to comment on former Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan getting banned from international cricket for a year.

“I’m not ICC,” Sharma was quoted as saying when asked about the Bangladeshi cricketer. 32-year old Shakib won’t be allowed to play cricket till October next year.

With regular captain Virat Kohli being rested for the T20I series against Bangladesh, Sharma has taken the reigns from him for the series starting from November 3 in Delhi.

Rohit Sharma comments on Farokh Engineer’s controversial statement

Former India wicket-keeper batsman Farokh Engineer was under the scanner yesterday after his comments on the Indian selection committee was made with respect to Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma. The actress eventually took to her social media handles to open up about the same.

Being asked about the same, Sharma didn’t consider himself to be the right person to comment on the situation. “Neither am I the President nor the captain, a regular captain. So what should I say about this?

“So, ask him [Farokh Engineer] why did he say that? I haven’t said anything, so, what should I say? I cannot go into Farokh Sir’s head and see why he said that,” Sharma added.

“We didn’t have any problem when we played the Test match here [vs Sri Lanka in 2017]. We are not aware of the exact discussion and I haven’t had any problem,” Sharma was quoted as saying.
