UFC Vegas 14: Paul Felder Steps Up To Accept The Short Notice Fight Against Rafael dos Anjos; Manager says ‘Universe Wanted This To Happen’

Paul Felder is in the fight scene again, steps up to accept the short notice fight against Rafael dos Anjos.

A day after Islam Makhachev pulled out from the scheduled fight against Rafael dos Anjos, it is Paul Felder who has indeed filled the vacant main event spot of UFC Vegas 14.

With the fight night only five days away, it was seemingly a monumental task to persuade a ranked Lightweight competitor in taking up this short notice fight, however, Paul Felder has accepted the challenge, and he apparently was the only one willing to stand up for the occasion.

Per UFC officials, none other than Paul Felder (@felderpaul) is stepping in on FIVE DAYS notice to fight Rafael dos Anjos. STILL a five round fight. STILL 155 pounds. Wow.

No. 7 in the Lightweight rankings, the Irish Dragon last competed inside the Octagon in February, 2020, where he suffered a split decision loss against Dan Hooker. Since that fight, the 35-year-old did not cut out a keen figure to compete again soon, and expressed his availability exclusively for the fights that would interest him.

Would Have Worked as a Broadcaster For The Event

When he is not a fighter, Paul Felder also works as a broadcaster in UFC, and irrespective of this booking, he was still obligated to make an appearance in the APEX center on November 14, to work alongside Brendan Fitzgerald and Michael Bisping, as they would have described the in-ring action together.

“Universe Wanted This To Happen”

According to Brian Butler (Paul Felder’s Manager), Paul wouldn’t have accepted the offer, if this was any other time, but because of the physical activities he is immersed in, he is in the right shape to compete.
