Lewis Hamilton to receive knighthood in New Year’s Honours after clearing tax-related disputes
Lewis Hamilton will receive the knighthood from the Queen in the New Year’s Honours after clearing tax-related disputes over his luxury investments abroad.
The inevitable is happening, with The Sun reporting that Lewis Hamilton will receive the knighthood in the New Year’s Honours. It was expected to be announced soon but got stuck due to tax-related issues over his luxury spending abroad.

He joins Andy Murray, Mo Farah and Alastair Cook in the recent list of sportspersons who have received the gong. But when asked few days earlier if he deserved it, he played it down. At the same time, he did say it would be an honour if he does get the knighthood.
“I’ve not saved any lives, I’m not an unsung hero like NHS staff or Captain Sir Tom Moore. Like everyone, I’ve grown up adoring the royal family, if one day I am honoured to be up in front of the queen again, it would be the happiest day ever to see her again, she’s an icon, such an incredible individual.”

“Dream the impossible” as Lewis Hamilton knighthood set to happen
Hamilton has been extremely vocal about the lack of diversity in motorsports, championing the Black Lives Matter movement. His initiatives for diversity coupled with his dominant display on the track has played a key role in him getting the knighthood.
“For the kids out there who dream the impossible, do not give up on that dream because I am living proof that you can manifest your dreams and even the impossible ones.”
“I remember as a kid; adults, teachers, parents of other drivers telling me that I would not make it. “You’re not going to make it, go back to your country. All these horrible things and I remember thinking I’m going to prove you wrong. The message is for all the kids out there who feel they don’t have a voice and might be dreaming of something or want to dream big.”
